Most of us will never forget the terrible events which unfolded in New York City on September 11, 2001. For those in the financial services community, the date will forever serve as a reminder of the colleagues, friends, and relatives that were lost in the World Trade Center collapse. Over time, the shock felt that day has evolved into a firm resolve to rebuild both New York and the spirit of our nation.
In an effort to do our part, Needham & Company, LLC, established the Needham September 11th Scholarship Fund shortly after the tragedy. Designed to benefit the children of the victims who lost their lives, the purpose of the fund is to ensure that each child is provided with an opportunity for a private secondary and/or college-level education.
Awarding of funds is based upon the individual merits of each applicant, with the primary criteria being financial need, scholastic abilities, and community/civic involvement. Applications are considered and reviewed case by case in an objective and non-discriminatory manner. Fund allocations are limited to individuals from households with a pre-September 11th gross income of less than $125,000, with scholarships awarded to those who have either been accepted or are presently attending an accredited private high school, college, or university.
We realize there are many worthwhile organizations soliciting donations for September 11th related causes, and that many of you have already answered the call for aid. As you consider contributing to the Needham September 11th Scholarship Fund, know that 100% of the funds will be awarded to truly deserving recipients.
To contribute to the Needham September 11th Fund, please fill out our short pledge form. For tax reasons, you may prefer to contribute securities rather than cash.
